2017 Great Britain 1 oz Gold Queen's Beasts The Dragon BU
Struck by The Royal Mint in 2017, this one ounce Gold Queen's Beasts The Dragon is the third release in the celebrated ten coin Queen's Beasts series. It is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and housed in protective packaging.
The series draws on the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at the 1953 coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by James Woodford RA and reimagined for the coins by Royal Mint designer Jody Clark. The reverse shows the Red Dragon of Wales, the Red Dragon of Cadwaladr, clutching a shield bearing the lions of the Royal Arms. The Celtic dragon represents sovereignty and power, and has long been the emblem on the national flag of Wales. Struck in .9999 fine gold, this coin contains one full troy ounce of gold.
